A ROYAL VISIT
Back in 2023 the newly coronated King Charles III and royal wife Camilla were on their first state visit since being crowned. They arrived in Germany hosted by President Frank-Walter Steinmeir and wife Elke Budenbender. During the three day visit the German president presented the King with a royal gift.

At Bellevue Palace this gift was presented, Aimee, a classic English style mantel clock by Hermle (of Reichenbach am Heuberg) with an exquisite walnut case, 8-day Westminster striking movement, and auto night shut-off.

A SPECIAL REQUEST
The UK Foreign Office had contacted the house of Hermle explicitly with this clock model and requested to have a special engraving on the clock in German:

His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland 1st State Visit to the Federal Republic of Germany from March 29 to 31, 2023.

This was no doubt not an everyday request.
