An American Legacy

The Emperor Clock Company was founded in Fairhope, Alabama in 1968 (originally as Ritz Instruments) by George Fowler and Phil Yoas. Emperor quickly became a leading grandfather and grandmother clock manufacturer in the U.S. The biggest seller was clock kits, which allowed customers to assemble the clock themselves.

Today, we are proud to be owned by world renowned clock company Hermle. While Hermle is a German company, since the late 1970's our USA team has been producing some of our most beloved wooden clocks. While these clocks still include our precision engineered German movements and accessories, these clocks are expertly made by our craftsmen and women in our Amherst, Virginia, USA production facility - continuing the original Emperor legacy of American manufacturing.
